In its fourth year, the News UK Motor Awards brings together the collective expertise and audiences of The Times, The Sunday Times, Driving.co.uk, The Sun and talkSport
Voted for by consumers and shortlisted by prominent automotive journalists, New Fiat 500 claims the title of Small Car of the Year at News UK Motor Awards 2021.
As in previous years, the News UK awards have been judged by consumers and automotive journalists across News UK’s titles, championing best-in-class vehicles across all motor segments.
Greg Taylor, Fiat UK managing director, said: “While we’ve become familiar with New Fiat 500 taking acclaim amongst industry experts this past year, it is particularly special to receive this award given it was voted for by the general public. Boasting best-in-class features – such as Level 2 autonomous driving – an impressive driving range and a host of driving modes to assist with the driving experience, it is evident that New 500 is not only the critics’ choice but also the people’s choice.”
The New 500 is the first fully-electric vehicle from Fiat and provides a range of best-in-class features such as Level 2 autonomous driving technologies, a variety of battery options – 24kWh or 42kWh – and a substantial driving range of up to 199 miles, the longest range of any electric city car on the market.
New 500 is available in three trim levels (Action, Icon and La Prima) as well as convertible options from the Icon trim upwards.
The New 500 has three driving modes to choose from: Normal, Range and Sherpa, and are designed to assist and enhance the driving experience and manage energy efficiency. Range mode offers one-pedal driving capability, perfect for city driving, combined with smoother acceleration and regenerative braking that can be used to bring the New 500 to a complete stop.
Additionally, the car benefits from fast charging capabilities, allowing the battery to recharge to 80 per cent in only 35 minutes. In addition, 30 miles of range takes only five minutes.
