- Praised for its easy-to-drive engineering, refined driving style and impressive range
- What Car? experts have already selected New 500e as Convertible of the Year and Best Small Electric Car for the City at its Car of the Year Awards in January 2021
New Fiat 500 has picked up yet another accolade in the UK, this time gaining plaudits from What Car? in its 2021 Electric Car Awards, securing Best Small Electric Car.
Judges praised the New 500e for its easy-to-drive engineering, enhanced driving style and all-new interior. The impressive range, new connectivity features and competitive price versus the competition was also noted.
The New 500e is the first fully electric Fiat to be designed from the ground up. The full line-up includes four trim levels offering up to 199 miles of range (WLTP) – Action, Passion, Icon and La Prima.
New 500e has a raft of best-in-class features such as Level 2 autonomous driving technologies, a variety of battery options, as well as 85kW fast-charging available from the Passion trim upwards. Fast charging allows the battery to recharge to 80 per cent range in only 35 minutes. In addition, 30 miles of range takes around five minutes.
Steve Huntingford, editor, What Car? said: “There really is nothing that the 500 isn’t happy to tackle, and it does all this for a price that usefully undercuts most small electric rivals, whether you’re buying outright or on monthly finance. At such low price, or even for quite a lot more, no small electric car provides quite such a complete package as the 500.”
Greg Taylor, Fiat Country Manager, said: “That’s the fifth industry award for New Fiat 500 in 2021! We must acknowledge our world-class team of designers and engineers who have made these achievements possible. With best-in-class features – such as Level 2 autonomous driving – impressive driving range and charging capabilities, it is no surprise the New 500 continues to impress.”
In 2021, the New 500e has already been named Car of the Year by Electrifying, Best Small Electric Car for the City by What Car?, Marie Claire’s Best Electric Car and Auto Express’ City Car of the Year.
