New Fiat 500 continues to grab the attention of industry experts in 2022, picking up Best Small Electric Car for the City, while New 500 Convertible takes the plaudits as the Best Convertible for Value at the annual What Car? Car of the Year Awards.
Judges praised the New 500 for its attractive price point, performance, timeless design and technological advancements.
Steve Huntingford, Editor, What Car?, said: “As an urban runabout, the fully-electric Fiat 500 makes perfect sense; its small footprint and light steering are ideal for tackling tight, congested roads, while the lively power delivery helps you make those tight gaps in city traffic. Factor in nimble handling, and the New 500 is great at relieving the rush-hour blues.”
Huntingford added: “The electric Fiat 500 Convertible is a terrific drop-top that mixes timeless design with the latest technology. What’s more, it’s well-priced, has a smart interior and is better to drive than rivals thanks to its lively performance and nimble handling.”
The New 500 marks the third generation of this iconic car with a clear focus on sustainable mobility, modern design and affordability. Designed, engineered and manufactured at the home of Fiat in Turin, the New 500 is the first model in Fiat’s history to be fully-electric.
The car boasts Level 2 Autonomous Driving technologies, a variety of battery options and a substantial driving range of up to 199 miles (WLTP).
Due to the fully-electric nature of the car, the New 500 is congestion charge and ULEZ-exempt, making it the perfect vehicle for city use.
Greg Taylor, Fiat UK Managing Director, said: “The What Car? Car of the Year Awards acknowledges the very best that the automotive industry has to offer, so for New 500 to pick up a duo of awards for a second consecutive year is a huge testament to the sleek design and technological innovation that has gone into the third generation of this iconic car. For that, we must recognise our phenomenal designers and engineers that have made this feat achievable”.
